Treatment costs
Laser eye surgery (LASIK/SMILE/PRK) is now widely available, with several hundred thousand procedures performed each year. In most cases, the ophthalmologists at IROC in Zurich can offer a solution to correct your vision without losing sight of the costs of laser eye surgery.
When it comes to the cost of laser eye surgery, it is human nature to always look for the most affordable option. Compared to the recurring costs of new glasses and contact lenses, the one-time price of laser eye surgery or another type of eye surgery can be similar or, in the long term, often cheaper.
The main goal of the IROC Eye Clinic in Zurich is to offer all patients the best possible and highest quality eye care. Another goal is to offer transparent and competitive prices for laser eye surgery (LASIK/SMILE/PRK) as well as for cataract surgery and cross-linking (CXL) for keratoconus.
If you compare the costs of laser eye surgery or cataract surgery at IROC in Zurich with those of other clinics in Switzerland, it is easy to see that the costs are transparent – with no subsequent upselling or hidden costs. The costs for follow-up corrections and check-ups as part of primary laser eye surgery are included in the price for the first 3 years.
With standard cataract surgery, you will not incur any out-of-pocket costs, i.e., the costs for the cataract surgery as well as all pre- and post-operative check-ups are covered by the mandatory health insurance (TARDOC). Only at your request will special lenses such as aspheric lenses, multifocal lenses, or toric lenses, as well as a femtosecond laser, be used, which will be covered by a flat fee that is not covered by health insurance. The costs of customized cross-linking (CXL) for keratoconus will also be covered by mandatory health insurance (TARDOC) starting in 2026.
Below you will find a list of the costs for laser eye surgery, the additional costs for cataract surgery using multifocal or toric lenses, and the use of a femtosecond laser. The prices for intravitreal injections of Eylea and Lucentis for macular degeneration (AMD) as well as the costs of glaucoma surgery are covered in full by compulsory health insurance in the vast majority of cases.
