Behandlungskosten

Laser eye surgeries are quite common today with hundreds of thousands successful surgeries worldwide per year. IROC ophthalmologists in Zurich are offering solutions for almost every refractive problem with fair prices for eye laser surgery and other refractive surgeries.

As far as the costs for laser eye treatments are concerned, it is in the nature of people to always look for the option that is most cost effective. Compared to the recurring costs for spectacles and contact lenses, the one-time price for laser eye surgery or any other kind of refractive surgery is similar, and on the long-term basis even less.

IROC eye clinic’s main goal in Zurich is to provide the best-possible and highest-quality eye care for all its patients. Further competitive and transparent prices for laser eye treatments (LASIK/SMILE/PRK) and other surgeries such as femtosecond laser cataract surgery using multifocal lenses or crosslinking (CXL) for keratoconus are important.

By comparing IROC’s costs for laser eye treatments or the costs for cataract surgery in Zurich to the ones of other eye clinics in Switzerland, it becomes obvious that prices are transparent and clear with no up-selling or hidden costs. The costs for additional laser eye corrections after all kind of primary laser eye surgery (LASIK/SMILE/PRK) are included for 3 years as well the follow-ups.

All costs for standard cataract surgery, pre-examination and follow-up are covered by the public health insurance in Switzerland (TARMED). Only in case of implantation of premium lenses like aspheric, multifocal or toric lenses or the use of the femtosecond laser during cataract surgery causes additional costs that are not covered by public health insurance. Unfortunately, until today swiss public health insurance is not covering the costs of crosslinking (CXL) in keratoconus.

Below you can find the costs for all laser eye surgeries (LASIK/SMILE/PRK), costs for cataract surgery with the use of a femtosecond laser and/or the implantation of multifocal or toric lenses and the costs for crosslinking (CXL) for keratoconus. Prices for macular therapy (Lucentis, Eylea) and glaucoma treatments are fully covered by the swiss public health insurance (TARMED).

Eye laser costs (LASIK / SMILE / PRK)

Pre-examination (about 2 hours, TARMED compliant)

Eye examination and measurements; Evaluation of the optimal procedure together with your eye surgeon; Thorough clarification of your wishes and possible expectations; This is a TARMED-compliant invoice. You can submit these to your health insurance.

Laser eye surgery (not TARMED compliant)

With the SCHWIND AMARIS® 1050RS excimer laser and the ZIEMER LDV Z8 femtosecond laser. Indications: Short or far-sightedness, astigmatism or irregular deformation of the cornea, presbyopia or a combination. To ensure the safety of the procedure, maximal refractive corrections are dependent on the individual cornea. All follow-ups and re-operations are included for 3 years after initial treatment.

Phakic lens implantation (not TARMED compliant)

Indications: Visual corrections of nearsighted persons with -8 to -15 diopters and farsighted people with diopters of more than +3. It is an artificial optical lens used as a permanent replacement for glasses or contact lenses, that is implanted into the eye. The price includes only the costs of the operation and the first postoperative examination.

Cataract surgery costs

Femtosecond laser application (not TARMED compliant)

With the ZIEMER LDV Z8 femtosecond laser. During cataract surgery, the femtosecond laser opens the anterior capsular bag of the lens and fragments the opacified lens. The advantage is a higher precision and an increased safety during cataract surgery compared to the manual technique.

Multifocal lenses incl. femtosecond laser (not TARMED compliant)

Multifocal lenses allow a good far and near vision after cataract operation without glasses. In rare cases so-called "refractive surprises" may occur, which can be easily corrected with an eye laser treatment. This possible additional treatment is included in the price.

Toric lenses incl. femtosecond laser (not TARMED compliant)

If you suffer from an astigmatism, these special lenses allow postoperative freedom of glasses after cataract surgery for distance and in some cases even for near vision. In rare cases so-called "refractive surprises" may occur, which can be easily corrected with an eye laser treatment. This possible additional treatment is included in the price.

Keratoconus Crosslinking costs

Customized Crosslinking

The customized Crosslinking is the most efficient and modern method of corneal crosslinking. The treatment profile during crosslinking is individually tailored to your cornea to achieve the best-possible postoperative result. Currently, IROC is the only eye clinic in Switzerland to offer this innovative procedure. The price includes the surgery costs and the first postoperative follow-up.
